I just took a horrendous hit on my '14 BMW i3 Rex; I had not followed the depreciation over the 3.5 years and was stunned when I started shopping. Mine was a Giga (mid-level) with everything except full leather (I liked the wool cloth and leather better), and rang in at $54K. This week, I took $17k for it from a private buyer, incuding $1500 extra BMW wheels and snows. The best a dealer would offer was barely $15k.

OTOH, I have been surpised at the 2-year 30% drop in Panamera hybrids as well. Since I just bought a new '16 under that rubric, I am not complaining, but wondered what trade-in experience anyone here has had to report, or, are you all holidng out for the '18 Hybrids?

Ray,
Albany NY

I plan on driving my 2015 Porsche Cayenne S e-Hybrid for 250000 miles--Porsches are designed to last, and so there is no need to trade in every 5 years or so. However, I will install much more efficient solid-state batteries when they become available in a few years.
